Why use essential oils?
Essential oils contains a pleathora of healing and skin-supporting benefits and are characterized by their most important antioxidant properties. They are used in fragrancing our products at specific concentrations that are pure and unadulterated. Straying from the common misconception that they are sensitizing, dangerous, and damaging to your health.
Essential oils are extremely therapeutic, anti-inflammatory, regenerating to the skin, and does a fabulous job at assisting the skin in proper function and health. Although they do contain potential allergens that may trigger for some, they deliver extraordinary benefits to most.
They contain the life force of the plant compound they are derived from, which is what makes them beneficial and powerful. Simply put, essential oils play a major role in our product formulations beyond its aromatic properties.
Do essential oils irrate the skin?
Essential oils can be injurious to the skin if used improperly or on the wrong skin types. Additionally, all fragrances, including essential oils, can pose a risk of sensitivity or irritation. For that reason we have discontinued use of essential oils in our facial products.
You can still find scented options within our body products.
Our commitment to caring for your skin extends to the ingredients that we source. We only purchase essential oils from reputable suppliers to ensure the integrity of the essential oil is in fact pure, oxidized, or not a fake essential oil. All of which contributes to the possibility of sensitivity and allergic reactions.
For those with sensitive skin, you should avoid any ingredients that may trigger further irritant to the skin. That is why we highly recommend always conducting a skin patch test first when applying any new product.
Are your products safe for pregnancy and/or nursing?
All of our formulas are made with clean, healthy ingredients that are formulated at safe concentrations that have been tried and tested to meet safety standards. Our products have been deemed safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, we always suggest to consult with your physician first to ensure it's safety for you and to provide you with a piece of mind as every situation is different.
Do your products help with acne?
Our products do wonders for people that experience issues with acne-prone skin. Keep in mind, results may vary depending on the customer. Everyone's journey looks different, embrace the process.
What is the shelf life?
The shelf life differs per product. You can find the product shelf life in the description of each product as well as on each container for expiration dates.
We don't use additives to extend the life of our skincare products (we prefer the natural approach).
Where are your products made?
Our essential oils, carrier oils, butters, extracts, and botanicals are harvested on farms from around the world, and all of our bottling and assembly is done in the US in the state of Georgia in a cruelty-free, facility.
Are your products vegan?
With the exception our our lip balm which contains beesewax, our products are vegan.
Can I try before I make a purchase?
We don't offer free samples, however we do have minis available for purchase in a small range of products. If you'd like to see a specific product in a sample size, please reach out. We would love to hear from you!
Does your products guarantee favorable results?
We pride ourselves in formulating products to address skin concerns of melanin-rich skin such as acne, hyperpigmentation, and dry skin. And while we have found our products to be effective in improving these concerns, it's just not that simple to guarantee results.
Why is that?
There are many factors involved improving the health of your skin:
- Lifestyle habits ( foods, lack of water intake)
- The use of other skin care products
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
We use pure, raw ingredients to formulate our products. All of which work effectively with all skin-types, including sensitive skin. However, always conduct a patch test when trying new products.
Are your products exclusive to women of color only?
xo Brown Girl was created to fill much-needed gaps of inclusivity for women of color in the skin health realm. Our goal is to provide natural, non-toxic options and educate about healthier ways to love on your skin to women of color.
Simply put, there is a lack of products available that don't meet the needs of women of color in the personal care industry. However, our products are formulated to meet the needs of everyone - we embrace ALL skin tones, skin types and also welcoming to men!
Where did the name xo Brown Girl come from?
XO is a common, informal term that stands for hugs and kisses, used to express sincerity, faith, love and/or friendship.
When founder, Frankie Croker, began developing products inspired for specifically for women with melanin-rich skin tones, she fell in love with the concept of her brand representing women of color. The name xo Brown Girl resonated with her as it was a way to display the love she has for each brown girl who has similar struggles and desires with seeking non-toxic skincare. It shows each woman of color that I'm a brown girl to and I'm right there with you.
What does the numbers on the containers represent?
The number system is a packaging concept that helps identify ingredient and fragrance contents.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Primarlly all of our packaging material is recyclable inclduing our glass containers.
We are committed to being a sustainable brand. Some of the ways we minimize waste is reusing packaging from our suppliers, implore paper products for easy recycling and offering a recyling program so you don't have to do all the work.
How long will it take for my order to ship?
Standard shipping takes 7-10 business days for fulfilment. This does not include the timeframe for shipping. In times of high volume, this can increase.
My product was broken during transit, what now?
All of our products are contained in glass vessels. Often times due to the mishandling of packages during transits, bottles/jars are broken upon arrive. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
and we will take care of getting a replacment out to you.
If my packages is lost or stolen, will you replace it?
Unfortunately, we are not responsible for lost or stolen packages. If this is a concern please contact us immediately and we can provided you with confirmation of delivery address, date of delivery, and any additional tracking information to assist you with locating your package.
Can I expedite an order?
Currently, we do not offer expedited shipping. Once your order has been fulfilled, please expect 2 to 3 business days for delivery.
I placed multiple orders, is it possible to combine them so that they ship together?
Unfortunately, orders cannot be canceled or changed once placed. However, we will do our best to accomodate multiple orders combination.
I'm outside of the domestic US, how long will it take to receive my order?
International shipments can take up to 8 weeks for delivery. You may be subject to customs fees, duties or taxes in your country. We are not responsible for any shipping deliveries that may be affected by customs, natural occurrences, transfers from USPS to the local carrier in your country or air and ground transportation strikes or delays, nor any extra fee’s, customs or back-end charges once the package has exited the United States.
My package was returned due to insufficient address. What now?
Once your package has been received at our facility, we will reship your item to the corrected location with an additional shipping fee of $5.
What is your return policy?
Due to the nature of our process, we cannot offer exchanges or refunds. Every product is being fulfilled upon order. However, if an item is defective or you received the wrong item, please email us immediately at email@example.com so that can make the necessary corrections.
If there is an error with my order, how do I get this corrected?
If we have made an error with your order, please reach out within 2 days of receiving your order and we'll do our best to fix it. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Do you offer promo codes?
Yes, brn grl! We run sales periodically. We also offer a promo code when you sign up for our newsletter!
My promo code isn't working, what now?
Promo codes are automatic and only works for eligible items. If your code is not working, it could be for a number of reasons:
You have an expired code.The items in your cart are not eligible.Your code is misspelled.

Who do I meet with for my consult or treatment?
At Beyond Skin, you will always be seen by a licensed esthetician — who specializes in holistic esthetics.
What does the $50 cost for a skin consult go toward?
The $50 cost goes toward your initial visit. During this visit, we will review your history, assess your skin, discuss concerns and goals and develop a plan. Your deposit can be applied to any product or treatment purchase during your visit.
What if I don't purchase anything at this appointment?
The $50 consult cost will then go toward your esthetician's time. We hope you find the skin consult valuable and find a product routine or treatment plan suitable for you!
What if I don't live near Beyond Skin?
We offer virtual consultations for those who aren't local. You can schedule a virtual skin consultation here.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that if you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide us with at least 48 hours ahead of your appointment.
How to: You can change your appointment by referring to the original appointment email confirmation. Scroll down and tap "change appointment." If you need to make a change after the 48-hour mark, please call or text us immediately at 770.853.9255.
Charge details: Last-minute cancellations, rescheduled, or no-shows will be charged 50% of the total service fee for first-time offenses. For repeat offenders, 80% of the total service fee will be charged. If the card on file cannot be processed for payment, your account will show a past-due balance which will need to be taken care of prior to making another appointment.
What if I'm running late?
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, we will do our best to see you, but you may be asked to reschedule.
What payments are accepted?
All major credit/debit cards and cash are accepted.
Clients must have a valid credit card on file in order to book an appointment.
Gratuities are entirely at your discretion and are not included in the price of treatments.
I'm under the weather, what do I do?
For the sake of everyone’s health, we ask that you kindly reschedule your appointment in the appropriate time frame if you are feeling under the weather.
HOW DO I BUY A GIFT CARD?
You can purchase one here and it’ll be emailed directly to the recipient!
DO GIFT CARDS EXPIRE?
No! Good skin doesn’t have to, either.
