What is a skin type?

Describes how your skin is functioning.  There are four common skin types: Oily, Combination, Normal, or Dry.  Due to a host of influences, you skin type can change, so keeping up with your skin type with regular re-testing is important.

Discovering your skin type:

The bare-face method involves washing your face mild, gentle cleanser then pat dry.  Refrain from applying any other products.  After 30 minutes, observe your skin.  

If shiny throughout - oily skin

If tight and flaky - dry skin

If a mix of oily and dryness, especially in your t-zone - combination skin

If hydrated and comfortable - normal skin

The blotting sheet method involves pressing a clean blotting sheet to the skin.  Be sure to cleanse first with a mild, gentle cleanser, pat dry and allow to rest for 30 minutes.  Hold the sheet up to the light to observe the oil markings.

If an abundance of oil - oily skin

If little to no oil -dry skin

If small amounts of oil from your t-zone - combination skin

If minimal oil - normal skin

ROUTINE

Massage onto warm, damp skin in circular motions.  Rinse well and pat dry with a dark-colored towel to avoid staining.  Safe to use and store in the shower or tub as this product contains a naturally-derived preservative

FAQs

What is a face polish?

Our face polish is an exfoliant to help with removing dead skin cells, brighten skin, and to promote the healthy production of new skin cells.

Should I use before or after cleansing?

Cleansing prior to using the polish is a great way to have skin primed before using the polish.  However, it's a personal preference and does not alter the effectiveness of the product.

Can I use everyday?

Not at all!  It's best to not use the body polish everyday, instead limit to 1-3 times a week.  Exfoliating too often can result in dry, irritated, sensitive skin.  For those with dry and sensitive skin, we recommend reducing to once a week.

Why is a preservative used?

Your body polish is likely to be stored in an open-necked jar in a steamy bathroom where it will come into contact with wet fingers.  Because of this have added a preservative. We are simply preserving the water that will be added during the product’s use.
