SOOTHE No. 16 Hydrating Oil Cleanser is a castor oil based facial cleanser that binds with sebum and impurities and effortlessly breaks down grime and even makeup. Rich in Gamma-linolenic acid, its borage oil formulation helps improve the texture and appearance of skin, and reduces transepidermal water loss.

Skin Type: Normal to dry skin 

What is a skin type?

Describes how your skin is functioning.  There are four common skin types: Oily, Combination, Normal, or Dry.  Due to a host of influences, you skin type can change, so keeping up with your skin type with regular re-testing is important.

Discovering your skin type:

The bare-face method involves washing your face mild, gentle cleanser then pat dry.  Refrain from applying any other products.  After 30 minutes, observe your skin.  

If shiny throughout - oily skin

If tight and flaky - dry skin

If a mix of oily and dryness, especially in your t-zone - combination skin

If hydrated and comfortable - normal skin

The blotting sheet method involves pressing a clean blotting sheet to the skin.  Be sure to cleanse first with a mild, gentle cleanser, pat dry and allow to rest for 30 minutes.  Hold the sheet up to the light to observe the oil markings.

If an abundance of oil - oily skin

If little to no oil -dry skin

If small amounts of oil from your t-zone - combination skin

PERFORMANCE

Less sebum, an oily substance produced by the body to retain moisture to the skin, leads to dry skin. Dry skin lacks the necessary lipids (fats) needed to retain moisture and build a protective shield against external influences. Leading to a compromised barrier function.

Melanin rich skin tones tends to be more susceptible to dry skin as it lacks ceramides, fatty molecules that make up the outer barrier of your skin, preventing water loss.

SOOTHE is recommended to moisten skin with gentle, soothing ingredients that hydrate and provide relief to dry skin.

ROUTINE

Massage a quarter-sized amount of cleansing oil onto skin for 60 seconds. Wet a clean washcloth with warm water and gently wipe away impurities and excess oil.  For best results, apply nightly.

FAQs

Is it for oily skin?
Nope! Perfect for all skin types. From dry, oily, combination or super sensitive skin. Be mindful, it does include essential oils. Essential oils are included at the recommended usage rate, however may cause sensitivity for some. Always patch test and if you are pregnant or nursing, please check with your physician prior to use.

What is an oil cleanser?
Excellent at removing any impurities, dead skins, and bacteria. Specifically formulated for acne-prone skin concerns and oily skin types.

Is it effective for oily skin?
Yes, yes, and yes. It's a perfect combination for oily skin as it regulates oil production and balances skin without clogging pores.
